On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Governor Kathy Hochul delivered her annual State of the State address. The Governor’s oral remarks—which focused largely on tackling crime, serious mental illness and expanding affordable housing—were accompanied by a 181-page book outlining 204 proposals that are part of her
complete State of the State submission. As in prior years, the State of the State book essentially lays out the Governor’s policy vision and priorities for the Legislative Session; the far more important and impactful details will come when the Governor’s Executive budget is presented on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
